I like the RIVER analogy. I think that it speaks of the diversity that is the Trinity without destroying the overall composition. You ar right in saying that the concept can be challenging!
Glad that this is the direction we have decided to pursue!

Dear Pastor Cal. My name is Amanda. I write a blog on Thanksgiving and am borrowing this picture of yours for today. I would really like to use it and I'm not sure how soon you'll respond, but if you have any objections I'd be happy to put it off my page. I'm sorry for taking the liberty of using this image and I hope you will understand my urgency at using it.

Yeah. I am not sure I am too crazy about the title either. However, I will reserve final thoughts on it until I find out more information. This is much like the term coined by Piper, "Christian Hedonism" Which, I wasn't too fond of either. :-) Blessings!

Dear Cal,

You and Brenda have been on my heart and mind daily! Oh how I am praying that the power of the Lord will be in your heart and home. May you feel the prayer and love of all of us. May you as well as renda seek the help you will need to get through this trying time. We love you and trust that the Lord will fortify you for the weeks ahead. Julian and Norma

I loved the quote by David Duncan. To me it says there has to be a GOD. He has faulty thinking. We do serve an amzing God who comes down with HIs grace and mercy. How thankful I am that we can celebrate His birth and life and dath and resurrection for we do serve a living God.

Well stated, El. One of the reasons that I can't recommend the book is that David points to god, but not to God through Jesus.

It is interesting to read his perspective on things (he REALLY goes after George W. Bush and Fundamentalistism in general), I do so remembering that he is not a Christian nor does he claim to be. That does not mean, however, that none of his critiques of the Church hit their target. Nor that he has nothing of value to say to the neo-conservative political movement.

Wonder is one of those many gifts God gives us to learn more about Him. Recall that we were made in His image. Although, one can hardly say that God, being omniscient as he is, is hampered by it as much as we are. Yet, there is a Holiness about wonder which make it meaningful to ponder. Not to get wrapped up in it so much, because if one was not theologically inclined, there is nothing about wonder which should in itself point us to our condition nor to our Savior.

However, by grace and grace alone it can and does reveal some things about the Lord himself.

Take for example the old hymn, "I Wonder as I Wander"
(See: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/I_Wonder_as_I_Wander)
The chorus starts off like this:

I wonder as I wander out under the sky
How Jesus the Saviour did come for to die
For poor on'ry people like you and like I;
I wonder as I wander out under the sky

Wonder is a wonderful thing...if it deepens our relationship and worship experience of the Creator rather that that of the creation.
