Thank you to everyone who offered questions for Stump the Pastor. It should be a challenging summer!

Would you also like a different sort of challenge? While it will be fun to dig into the questions that you asked, it was suggested tonight at Worship Planning that perhaps we need a break from the brain benders every once in a while…especially on days when we are celebrating Communion. That got me to thinking.

I’m looking for glimpses of grace that you have seen in your life. These could be occasions when you got a good glimpse of God’s grace; they could be situations when you experienced grace from someone near to you. I’d like to take your glimpses of grace and weave them together into a couple of messages this summer that focus on grace.

The challenge to you? Let me know when you have experienced grace. There were occasions in the Bible when it was very clear that God was forgiving someone’s sin. (E.g. Matthew 9:2) So, if you have instances when you got a glimpse of God’s grace and you knew that your sin(s) was/were forgiven, I’d love to hear about it!

Or you may have experienced grace from someone close to you. I’d love to hear about a time when you knew that someone had forgiven you for something you had said or done. Did they tell you about it? Was it evident in how they treated you? How did you glimpse grace in your relationship with them?

Put your thinking caps on and kick your memories into gear. Then let me know what you come up with. I, in turn, will weave these glimpses of grace into two messages (one focusing on God’s grace, one on human grace) and use them in June and July to help us experience the joy and reality of grace as we celebrate Communion together.
