“It was so easy,” she said.

A friend reminded me that there are other tragedies in the world besides Haiti. The Congo is one. In this New York Times article, Nicholas Kristof talks about one woman, Lisa, who is making a difference. In the video you find on that page, they have this conversation:

Nicholas: So, Lisa, I have to ask you this. You’ve just heard yourself described as a messenger of God – the transformative effect you’ve had on Generose’s life. You listen to that. What does that make you feel like?

Lisa: It’s humbling because it was so easy. What I’ve done is nothing compared to what she’s lived through.

Nicholas: But when you sit here and hear Generose and hear the way she talks about you, does it all seem incredibly worthwhile?

Lisa: “…I can’t think of a better reason to be alive.”

Hmmm. “It was so easy,” she said. To transform another person’s life. To make a real and lasting and permanent change. “So easy.” Can you think of something that would be easy to do that could change another person’s life – even if just for today?
